PARENTS, COACHES & SUPPORT
Build a useful food culture
Practical help can matter more than a speech: reliable meals, a stocked cooler and a private conversation when something changes.
Make access easier
Ask whether an athlete has breakfast, lunch, a post-practice option and transport to groceries. Share affordable recipes without judging household choices. Offer help with shopping, equipment or meal timing where possible.
Keep body comments out
Praise preparation, effort and recovery habits. Avoid public weight commentary or comparing bodies. A number on a scale does not explain an athlete's health, readiness or needs.
Take concerns seriously
Repeated fainting, unusual fatigue, distress around food or deliberate fluid restriction call for qualified help. Include parents/guardians for younger athletes and use the athletic training or medical team appropriately.
Know the limit of a cookbook
Qualified professionals guide medical care, dietary restrictions and weight concerns. Coaches and event staff explain sport-specific competition rules. This book is educational and does not replace individual advice. Do not treat a recipe estimate as a daily food limit.
Sources
This cookbook supports meal planning for training and competition. It is not a substitute for professional medical or nutrition advice. Discuss health concerns, dietary restrictions and weight changes with a qualified health-care professional. Younger athletes should involve a parent or guardian.
